Penn Highlands Clearfield unveils newly renovated emergency room

Publish date: 2024-06-11

We got an inside look of the newly renovated emergency room at Penn Highlands Clearfield on Thursday.

The facility is now capable of handling mass casualty situations, like pileups on the interstate, and also has areas able to handle any future pandemic needs.

The current emergency department will be converted into other medical space for Penn Highlands in the coming months.

"We are the hospital for the community. We are a rural hospital. So, our job is to stabilize a patient and get them to, for example, Dubois, our main facility. And by doing that, we've already saved lives."

The renovation project cost approximately $6 million and is expected to be open for use within the next month or so.
