Members of PA fire & EMS caucus tour local fire stations

Lawmakers from across the state visited some fire departments in our region on Monday.

The visit was organized by the "Bipartisan Fire and EMS Caucus" which aims to address issues and solutions to support first responders across the Commonwealth.

Members of the caucus plan to tour fire departments across the state to identify issues affecting them.

Local representative Jim Rigby volunteered to host the first one.

On Monday, Rigby gave lawmakers tours of Johnstown, Richland and West Hills fire departments.

He says across the Commonwealth, there are about 25-hundred fire stations and "90 percent" of those are volunteer departments.

The fire and EMS caucus was re-established in 2022.
