Altoona Sears among 80 stores to close, company says

ALTOONA, Pa. (WJAC) — Sears Holdings announced the closure of 80 more stores Thursday, including Sears in Altoona.

The company said in a release the closures are part of the company’s process to accelerate its strategic transformation and facilitate its financial restructuring.

The company said the stores, five of which are in Pennsylvania, will close in late March 2019.

The accompanying Sears Auto Center at the stores mentioned will also be closing.

Two Kmarts and three Sears stores will close in Pennsylvania:

• Sears, 5580 Goods Lane, Suite 1005, Altoona
• Sears, 5256 Route 30, Greensburg
• Sears, 200 Park City Center, Lancaster
• Kmart, 996 W. View Park Drive, Pittsburgh
• Kmart, 2873 W. 26th St., Erie

Liquidation sales at the stores are expected to start in two weeks.

These closures are in addition to the previously announced closure of 40 unprofitable stores, which is expected to be completed in February 2019.
